Poe Turns 200

After you recover from the holidays, you should start getting ready to celebrate the 200th birthday of Edgar Allan Poe, which occurs this January 19th.  Over at my horror blog, I’ve already started posting creepy stuff about it.  Illustrations like this one, by an Irish artist named Harry Clarke, are a good start.  I will also be writing short stories that reimagine and reinvent Poe’s classic tales.  The first, “The Imp of the Perverse,” should be coming shortly.

  1. Frankly, I think I’m ready for some Poe. All I’ve dreamt about the last few days is mortality, decay, disorganization and powerlessness. What better time could there be for diving in to the works of EAP?

  2. Throughout 2009, Richmond, VA (where Poe spent most of his life) has tons going on with regard to the EAP Bicentennial. A schedule of events can be found at http://www.Poe200th.com.
