Cold War Nostalgia

I know what you’re thinking: Damn, those nookler esplosions sure are purdy (the French made that one). But here’s the story: as reported in Wired, even a limited, regional nuclear conflict could lead to a nuclear winter scenario in which massive amounts of dust and debris are thrown high into the atmosphere leading to a marked drop in global temperature and precipitation and huge holes in the ozone layer. Yeah, it would be pretty bad. We are talking about deaths in the billions. Here’s one of the articles. This one has some nice charts showing the temperature plunges.

If you hear things are getting hot between India and Pakistan, get yourself to the grocery store, load up on ammo, and prepare for Mass Extinction #6 to kick in in earnest.

Gee, maybe we should really try to work on this whole nuclear nonproliferation thing.
